We had a pleasant surprise today when Ron the Cat Man from Oakland drove all the way to Middletown to visit our staff at Middletown Animal Hospital. After the Valley Fire last September Ron saw on Facebook how we were working long days saving animals that were affected by the national disaster and brought all of the staff cash gifts to treat ourselves or help with gas money. He realized that he had missed a gift for one person, Stephanie Klein. Stephanie is a 4th year veterinary student who worked for us this summer and last summer but was not here when the fire broke out on September 12. She did come a few weeks later when she had a break from school to help volunteer taking care of all of the animals that were victims of the fire. She will be coming back to Middletown Animal Hospital in November for a month long rotation for schooling. Next June after she graduates from veterinary school we are excited that Stephanie will be joining our Veterinarian Team as a doctor.
Today is Ron's 3rd visit to Middletown Animal Hospital. He has been so kind and thoughtful to us and it is amazing how a disaster can bring out generosity in strangers. Ron is fond of cats and takes care of feral community cats in his home town. He makes sure they are all trapped, neutered and released again as well as buys their food.
